Trail Difficulty : Easy. Dirt path.
Trail Length : Approximately 1.5 miles.
Trail Review : Hikers and bikers will love this trail since it is beautiful and has easy climbs.
The grasslands loop is highly recommended for mountain biking beginners wanting to bike on a dirt path.
The trail is rated a 'Level 1' by the Mission Gorge website.
The trail is beautiful because there exists tall grass (a rarity in San Diego) and mountain views. There is also a bench
near the top of the trail where you can see a dam and a waterfall.
To get to this trail there is gated path off the main road. You then have to cross wooden bridge, and then you will see the trail.
How to get there :
From Interstate 8 - Take freeway 8 to the Mission Gorge and Fairmount exit. Continue North on Mission Gorge Road for approximately 4.3 miles.
There are two entrances into Mission Gorge. Go past the first entrance (go past a street named Father Junipero Serra Trail).
Continue and you will see another entrance with a street name also called Father Junipero Serra Trail and turn left.
Park your car in the dirt parking lot. The trail entrance is about 100 yards down the road on the right.
